How to Find Your Perfect Bra Fit

How to Find Your Perfect Bra Fit

Finding your bra size shouldn't feel like guesswork. All you need is a soft measuring tape and a couple of minutes. Here's how to find your starting size—and how to tell whether it really fits.

01. Measure your band

Wrap your measuring tape around your ribcage, directly underneath your bust. Keep it horizontal and snug, but not painfully tight. Breathe normally and write down your measurement in inches.

Quick tip: In a direct-underbust sizing system, an underbust measurement close to 32 inches suggests trying a 32 band first. Different brands use different band conversions.

02. Measure your full bust

Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, keeping it level across your back. The tape should rest gently, without compressing you. A non-padded, well-fitting bra can make measuring easier.

03. Estimate Your Cup Size

Your cup size is based on the difference between your band measurement and your full bust measurement. Since US and EU sizing use different conventions, follow the guide that matches your sizing system.

US Bra Sizing (Inches)

Subtract your starting US band number from your full bust measurement in inches.

Difference US Cup Size
1 inch A
2 inches B
3 inches C
4 inches D
5 inches DD
6 inches DDD / F

Example: 32-inch starting band + 36-inch full bust = approximately 32D (US).

EU Bra Sizing (Centimeters)

EU sizing uses centimeter-based measurements. Subtract your actual underbust measurement from your full bust measurement.

Bust – Underbust EU Cup Size
12–14 cm A
14–16 cm B
16–18 cm C
18–20 cm D
20–22 cm E
22–24 cm F

Example: 75 cm underbust + 94 cm full bust = 19 cm difference, giving an approximate 75D (EU).

US Size EU Size
32B 70B
34C 75C
36D 80D
38DD 85E
40DDD / F 90F

Important: These are starting estimates. Band conversions and cup sizing can vary between brands and countries. Always check the size chart for your chosen HERSHAPEWEAR bra before ordering.

04. Check the fit—not just the label

  • Band: It sits level across your back rather than riding upward.
  • Cups: They sit smoothly, without major gaps, wrinkling, or spilling.
  • Straps: They stay on your shoulders without digging in.
  • Comfort: You aren't constantly tugging or readjusting.

Find your HERSHAPEWEAR fit

Every bra style fits a little differently. A traditional 32D does not automatically equal the same S, M, or L across all styles. Always check the individual product size chart before choosing your size.
